ScrapBooking Online!

No Comment - Post a comment

As i was searching for ideas on doing a scrap book, i came across www.scrapblog.com which is quite an interesting website providing you with the tools necessary to start doing your scrap book online. The tour from the website is pretty well done and you'll be able to follow it easily.

The site allows you to upload your scrap book online once you are done with it. After you upload, other members will be able to view your scrap book and give they comments and rating on your scrap book. If you are lucky, your scrap book might even be featured on the main page.

I am not very sure if there's a private option to only show your scrap book to selected person. However i do hope it exists so that your private collections do not get leaked unknowingly. I am also not very sure how long this site has been running but looking at the number of users, i think the site will be quite successful. The integration and link with other major photo hosting site will increase its user base as well.

Once i signup for the site and get my first scrap book online, i'll do a proper review of the site. Till then, enjoy scraping!

UMPC

It's now the IN thing to have a UMPC with you wherever you go. All the major laptop makers are now fighting to get a market share of the UMPC after the successful launch of ASUS Eee PC. The size of the UMPC is bigger than a handphone but smaller than a laptop. Thus, the naming of Ultra Mobile!

The price of this UMPC are also very affordable and the functions you get out of it is really amazing. Take the MSI wind for example, with ample USB ports, you can connect any gadgets to your UMPC and still have ports for your mouse. As the country's WLAN networks get expanded, you'll be able to surf the net wherever you go.

Now that's truly mobile. I hope to see gadgets will higher battery life in the future. It would be best if solar powered can become feasible.

Have you brought your iPhone yet? If not, it's time for you to get one! For those who had brought yours, congratulations! You have gotten yourself the best gadget money can buy! Now how can you protect your iPhone and make it durable and brand new looking after abusing it through your daily use?

You will need iphone case to protect your iPhone. This invisible shield is scratch resistant and will not wear off due to usage. At only .2mm thick, you can hardly tell that invisibleshield is there to protect your precious iPhone.

They even back it up with a lifetime warranty! So, it's really a one time investment for your iPhone and that will pay off for the entire life time of your iPhone. At least until you get the 3G iPhone.

How to hold your handphone??

No Comment - Post a comment

With handphone being in all shape and sizes nowadays. Just how can you keep your cell phone with you as you move around? When the cell phone was cute and small, we would just carry them in our pockets. Now that some of them are huge gadgets with big screens, we definitely need Cell Phone Holsters to hold them.

With the belt clips, you'll be able to clip your phone to your belt. This will give you the professional look instead of a bulging pocket cheapskate look. This will definitely make you more desirable and cool.

The clips from cellular-blowout is available for most popular brands of cell phone and you should be able to find yours unless you are using a very unpopular cell phone. if you do, maybe it's also time for you to change to a more high tech phone.

With phones getting more advance, you'll need to show off these phones prominently as you'll want others to notice you instead of turning off by you.

UMPC ~ The next big thing

No Comment - Post a comment

I think that UMPC is going to be the next big thing. The size and price of the machine is just right for on the road warriors who hate the small screen of the handphone and hate the bulkiness of a laptop. The UMPC is the best for this group of people. Personally although i do not have a UMPC, i would definitely like to have one.

The specs are going up and the price is going down. The cheapest is ASUS eePC who is going for less than $300. It runs on the linux operating system and is able to go online wirelessly and it comes with quite a suite of built-in software that is good enough for your everyday needs.

Maybe i will get one of these eePC soon.

Articles paid or free?

No Comment - Post a comment

How do you like your articles done? Paid or free? I personally prefers them free rather than paid. Any way, netizens are used to free things. Free emails accounts, free web hosting, free short domain, everything free, everybody likes. The same goes for articles, everybody likes them free.

However, most of the free articles lack depth and in-sights. They are written just to publicize the author. Thus, the more articles written, the better outreach of the author. It basically the law of probability. The more articles written, the higher the probability of anyone reading one of the works. Thus, reaching more people.

Thus, paid articles are still very sought after as the author puts in time and effort and expects to be renumerated for the hardwork.

Employee who blogs are actually contributing to the good of society by providing quality blog entries and informing the world about what's going on.

With the interconnectivity, it's no secret that blogs are fast becoming the main stream mass communication means. News spread through blogs like fire blaze through forest. I foresee that newspaper will no longer be printed but will be spread through blogs.

Setting up a physical shop?

No Comment - Post a comment

Guess why i need to include the word "physical" in my blog title? I think you would have guessed it if you are reading this post. Yes! You are right! You and Me, we are both internet savvy and if i just said setting up a shop, you would probably be thinking of an online shop or a ebay shop or maybe an amazon shop.

Thus, i really need to include the word physical in my post! Although the internet is ever popular and online shop are sprouting our every seconds, the good old physical shop is still going strong, as we really want to feel some goods before we actually buys them. What's the most important thing in the physical shop? I would think it is the POS system. Only with this system can you sell and keep track of your stocks and finance properly.

There really isn't any need to buy new one as a Refurbished point of sale does the same job for a cheaper price. By the time you machine life is over, it's about time you upgrade to a better machine due to expansion.

Therefore, refurbished pos is really the way to go for your new business. With a lower startup cost, you can reach your break even point faster. One of the brand you should look out for is ibm surepos pos which is a better pos for your business.

Do look up their website for more details

The design of your website makes or breaks your site

No Comment - Post a comment

Seriously, the very first impression of your website lasts very long and determines if you will ever get a repeat visit. But what exactly does the web browsers see first? Using HTTP protocol the website will be sent to your web browser which will interpret the code and display accordingly. Thus, having a good design doesn't mean anything unless your visitor browsers can support your code and display correctly. Otherwise, what you are seeing on your computer, may not be the same as what your visitor sees.

Furthermore, when there's so many different resolutions available for your visitor to choose, their resolution may not be the same as your working resolutions and thus, you will need to test your website on a few resolution to ensure that it still looks good. To make matter worst, there's normal screen and wide screen, CRT and LCD. Arrhhhh... how can your site design be good?

The only thing you can do is to get your friends to help you look at your site from their own computers. If they find it ok, then most probably your site is ok. Any way, think of looking good for 80% of your visitors. The 80 - 20 rules does apply here as well.

You'll only need to do 20% work to make your site good for 80% of your visitor.

Website Directory in a Niche Market

No Comment - Post a comment

How can you start a website directory in a niche market? I have been exploring this question for quite a while. In this world of the internet, everything under the sky can be found on the internet. Google.com being one of the most popular search engine in the internet is highly utilize but highly general.

However, the english language is a special language. A word or phrase in different context would have entirely different meanings. Thus, searching for something can be agonizing in google. In addition, some words are location bias and thus, different location entails different meaning for the same word.

Thus, i think that's a market for contextual search facilities. The result will be bias towards your desire instead of returning what google thinks is popular and thus you should be looking for it as well.

However, there's always limitation to this approach as it's very tedious to sort out the massive amount of information on the internet to view only the relevant one.

Facebook money making ideas?

No Comment - Post a comment

How do you make money from facebook? There's so many idea for facebook apps and they are all free. So why should anybody pay for facebook app when there's free apps around??

I have been thinking about this for a while and there's a few ways i thought of. One would be to offer premium paid services on top of basic free services. There will definitely be some who prefers premium services and is willing to pay for it

Another method would be through advertising on your facebook apps. Putting some ads there will generate some income base on PPC or PPV. However, people don't usually click on ads and thus, the income would be quite low.

If you have any methods to share, do feel free to left a comment and maybe we can collaborate and work toward a common goal.

I just purchased a domain package from some other website at about US$70 per year, and I thought it was the best one I could find after looking at google for half a day. The list of domain provider goes on and on but the cheapest i can find is US$70. One day after, this website http://www.paylessdomains.com.au was introduced to me and it provides domain from US$11.95 per year. Along with every domain registration, some free stuffs listed below are provided.

24/7 Customer Support
FREE Email Hosting

Almost the same service as what I purchased. Now you can imagine how stupid I found I was. Luckily I still have some extra cash in hand, and I intended to buy another domain here since it’s so cheap. During domain registration
through, http://www.paylessdomains.com.au/g/25076/register-a-domain-name.html, paylessdomains website will tell you which domain name is already taken, and best part is it will suggest some similar available names and if you buy more, discounts are available to you too. After registration, you just follow instructions, step by step, such as

How to bridge the gap between two countries?

No Comment - Post a comment

In this highly globalized world, it's getting more frequent for people to fly from one country to another just to work. Internet makes it even easier for people across the globe to collaborate in projects as well as make communication as if they are next to one another.

However, the most old method for communication is through the phone. Most of the cities and places on earth can be contacted through phone. Thus, all of us still need to have a phone even though we are all connected on the internet.

However, International Direct Dialling (IDD) calls are extremely expensive as your telcoms needs to use the lines of other telcoms in order to connect you across the globe. There are many ways to keep the cost low and one such way is to purchase calling cards. These calling cards make use of IP telephony to connect you to any phone in the world. pinshark.com provides you with international phone cards at low prices in order for you to enjoy the previous time talking to your love ones overseas. No matter what country you want to call to, you'll be able to find the cheapest calling card from pinshark.com With pinshark.com you can purchase directly and receive pins immediately for you to activate your accounts to make overseas call at low cost.

Free hosting or webhosting??

No Comment - Post a comment

This blog is hosted on free hosting by blogspot.com the only thing i paid for is the www.phostan.com domain name that i brought from godaddy.com

So should you get a paid hosting? After using free hosting for more than 6 months, i think it's really good to get a paid hosting if you can afford it. The freedom and choice you have is much more than what you can get with free host.

With free host, you will not have much technical support, and you can only made do with whatever is given. With paid hosting, you'll be able to decide what you want and customize your web hosting package to be effective and efficient.

However, even with paid hosting, there's a lot of things to consider like reliability, price, service, technical support, etc. In order to know which host is good, you'll need to read reviews of other users and from there know the standards of the webhost.

http://www.kaushalsheth.com/best-web-hosting-company/ really provides a good post on how to choose web hosting company and why it's good. So, in order to get all the necessary info to make the right decision, you'll have to check out kaushalsheth.com as they provide the best web hosting you can ever find on the internet. Look no further, just check them out.

Joyent.com and Facebook apps

No Comment - Post a comment

The most reliable way to get hosting for your facebook apps is through joyent.com as they are offering a one year free package for hosting your app. However, due to overwhelming response, you will have to wait for a few weeks before you are granted a free account.

The joyent.com account offers full root access and lots of features for 1 year. This is really a very good marketing strategy as after a year, the good apps will be generating lots of traffic and the creator would want to keep it that way by purchasing a plan from joyent.com As for the not so popular apps, they will die off and joyent will be able to offer the space to the next better player.

It is indeed a very effective way to stay in business. The good will get better and pay for joyent services while the not so good will be ousted.

I wonder where my app will be after 1 year. Why should i be thinking of this when i don't even have an idea for an app yet?

My first FaceBook application

I have started working on my "Hello World" application and manage to get it working after several attempts. I am using PHP5 and the php5 client provided by http://developers.facebook.com The site is really the place for you to get started in developing apps for facebook. The step-by-step tutorial provided here really give you an idea of how to get started.

Although it's pretty easier to write a "Hello World" apps, it's not that straightforward to write a more advance app. The advance_demo package really provides further insights into the way facebook apps works.

Once i have figured out how things work in creating an app, i'll teach you how to make one. In the mean time, if you have any ideas for a facebook project, do drop your comments so we can work together to create an app. After that, maybe we can think of how we can monetize it. :)

It has been several months since i started this blog. Perhaps, it's time to take stock on how this site have grown. As you can see from the graph, the traffic to this site is steadily increasing. This is pretty much good news as more people are visiting this site now.

PageRank

Page Rank wise, Google did an update and it turns out that this site is now PR3. This is simply amazing! I almost gave up hope of getting a PR when this site is constantly PR0 when suddenly i checked and found that this site is not PR3. I hope i will be able to generate more traffic to this site and increase the PR once google updates again.

Facebook ~ The biggest thing invented after the internet!

No Comment - Post a comment

www.facebook.com <-- how many of us don't have an account there? I guess not too many. I myself have tried facebook and the fact that 100s of applications and adds-on are created by the hour means that you will never run out of things to do at facebook.

From throwing sheeps at your friends, to doing quizzes together, anything you could think of, you can do at facebook. Even things you never thought of will make it into facebook and you can amuse yourself everyday by looking at all the funny apps created.

Facebook has become the talk of the day. Even uncles and aunties who never touch a computer much less the internet before, is getting on facebook and sending virtual flowers and throwing sheeps around. Some even starting biting, attacking others and recruiting vampires and werewolves.

Facebook's popularity will definitely grow stronger and everyone in this world will be on facebook. Who knows, maybe your microwave oven and fridge maybe on facebook as well.
